Healthcare PX is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the patient experience, primarily by helping hospitals start or strengthen Patient and Family Advisory Councils. Its name traces back to Joan’s Family Bill of Rights, a deeply personal document written by Barbara Lewis after the tragic loss of her sister, Joan, in 2012. During Joan’s two-week stay in the intensive care unit, Barbara witnessed, firsthand, the gaps in patient-centered care. This heartbreaking experience became the catalyst for her commitment to amplify the voices of patients and families, and one of the most significant ways is through Patient & Family Advisory Councils.
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the patient experience.
We partner with organizations to embed the patient and family voice to improve care delivery, often through PFACs.
Patient-centered care that incorporates patient preferences leads to better outcomes, greater safety, and improved system performance.
We support organizations in launching their first PFAC, reactivating a dormant council, or strengthening an existing one.
Backed by over a decade of our original research, we provide evidence-based guidance, actionable recommendations, and hands-on support to drive measurable and lasting change.
Do you have a question about patient engagement or Patient and Family Advisory Councils. Book an appointment and ask Barbara.
